A veg burger, also known as a vegetarian burger or veggie burger, is a type of burger that is made without any meat or animal products. It is specifically designed to cater to vegetarians or individuals who prefer plant-based options. Veg burgers are typically made with a variety of plant-based ingredients such as vegetables, legumes, grains, and spices. These ingredients are combined and formed into a patty, which is then cooked and served on a bun, often accompanied by various toppings and condiments. Veg burgers offer a flavorful and nutritious alternative to traditional meat-based burgers, and they have become increasingly popular due to the rise in vegetarian and vegan lifestyles.

Preparation time: 30 minutes Cooking time: 15 minutes Total time: 45 minutes Servings: 4 burgers

Ingredients:

For the patties:

  • 2 cups cooked and mashed potatoes
  • 1 cup cooked and mashed mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn, etc.)
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

For the assembly:

  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced onions
  • Sliced cucumber
  • Tomato ketchup
  • Mayonnaise

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, mashed mixed vegetables, bread crumbs, finely chopped onions, minced garlic, cumin powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything well until it forms a cohesive mixture.
  2. Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape them into round patties. Make sure the patties are firm and hold their shape.
  3. Heat oil in a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat. Carefully place the patties onto the pan and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Flip the patties gently to avoid breaking them.
  4. While the patties are cooking, cut the burger buns in half horizontally and lightly toast them in a toaster or on a grill.
  5. Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the pan and set aside.
  6. To assemble the burger, spread a layer of tomato ketchup and mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun.
  7. Place a cooked patty on top of the sauce, followed by lettuce leaves, sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, and sliced cucumber.
  8. Finally, cover the burger with the top half of the toasted bun.
  9. Repeat the process for the remaining patties and buns.
  10. Serve the DineOut Veg Restaurant’s Signature Veg Burger immediately with your favorite side dish like French fries or a fresh salad.
